Jack Holman - Officialy Retired
Jack founded the lodge in 1975 and built business from nothing to become the best fly fishing lodge in Alaska. Raised in upstate New York, after college he moved family to the Alaskan bush to take teaching jobs. One of the early innovators in the Alaskan lodge business, his success is most certainly attributed to his charismatic, hard working, "do anything it takes" attitude. Jack, who guided and flew daily for over 30 seasons, currently resides with his wife Sue in Northern California.35 + years of Alaskan bush flying without a single accident Still makes yearly appearances at the lodge. Interests- Hunting, flying, fishing, working around the "ranch", Commercial Pilot, SES, Flight Instructor, Coast Guard Captain, First Aid , CPR First Responder
Sue Holman - Officialy Retired
Sue began her lodge career in the late 80's and was instrumental in instilling the idea that no detail is to small to overlook. She managed the lodge crew, developed the menus, and worked every position while putting out incredible breads and desserts. Her drive and Enthusiasm in both work and interacting with the guests was an enormous asset. Her level head and diplomatic skills were instrumental in keeping Jack on the right path.
John Holman - Owner, Pilot & Guide
John grew up in the lodge life. Guiding and flying since the age 19. Born in New York and moved with family to the Alaskan bush in 1970. John's parents were school teachers, Dad, Jack Holman founded the lodge in 1975. John and Kari married in 1994. Together wee have three children, Sydney, Jack, Luke. Resides in Palmer Alaska during the winter months. John took over lodge operation 2007. Interests- Flying, Hunting, Fishing, Scuba diving, Riding snowmobiles, spending time with Kari and the kids. Kari Holman - Owner, Accounting & Operations, Wife and Mother
Born in California, raised in Alaska. Married John in 1994, began lodge life immediately. Graduated college in 1993 - BA in Accounting. Currently raising three children, Sydney, Jack and Luke. Kari takes care of lodge book keeping and the full time job of keeping John on the right track. Interests- Hiking, fishing, travel
Chris Anderson - Pilot & Guide
Born in Georgia. Raised in Alaska. Graduated College 1994, Northern Arizona University, BS in Eco Systems Science and Management, Started his flying career in high school. Came to work at the lodge in 2000 as maintenance man. Chris has a natural flying ability not found in many people. He has proven himself many times over as a very safe, professional pilot and first class fishing guide. Interests- Flying, hunting, traveling. Commercial Pilot, SES, Coast Guard Captain, First Aid, CPR First Responder
Jeff Parker - Professional Fishing Guide
Born and raised in Utah. Began a lifelong fishing obsession at 5. Guided 6 years at Lee's Ferry Anglers on the Colorado River. Started at the lodge in 2001. Guides in the off season in Northern California for Steel head. "Parker" epitomizes the term "Fishing Guide". His unparalleled knowledge combined with his "everyday is a good day" attitude make for a guy people come back to see year after year. Interests- Fishing, Turkey Hunting, willing to trade guiding for turkey hunting land. 50 Ton Coast Guard Captain, First Aid/CPR First Responder. Caleb Hitzfeld - Professional Fishing Guide
Born and raised in Texas. Began fishing at 5. Worked at Lee's Ferry Anglers on the Colorado river for 3 years. Began guiding in Alaska in 2004. Currently operates Steelhead guiding service in Forks Washington in the off season.Caleb has gained a reputation for being a very competent, solid guide. He has an extensive background in all types of fishing, is an accomplished fly tier and knows how fish think. Interests- Fishing, Tying flies, Raising his daughter. Dave Yoder - Professional Fishing Guide
Born in Maryland , raised a military brat all over the world. Began flyfishing over 20 years ago. Started guiding in Colorado in 1994 and Alaska in 2003. Currently resides in Florida in the off season where he guides for Bone fish, Permit and Tarpon. Dave is our newest guide but he brings years of experience in Southwest Alaska and a desire to provide the best experience available. Interests- Fishing, flying, Skiing, anything outdoors. 100 Ton Coast Guard Captain, First Aid, CPR First Responder, Private Pilot. Melissa Arntz - Guest Services
I was born and raised in the Bay Area. I went to school at the University of Montana in Missoula and received a bachelors degree in Wildlife Biology. I enjoy hunting, hiking, and learning to fly fish. I'm looking forward to my third year at the lodge.
Gerald Evanson - Executive Chef
I was born in Blue Island, Illinois. At the age of six my family relocated to Colorado. In 1998 I graduated from The Culinary School at The Art Institute of Colorado. I have worked at various restaurants in the Denver area until I started at the Inverness Hotel and Conference Center. Advancing to Banquet Chef in 2003 and then Chef Tournant in 2006. In 2006 I joined No-See-Um Lodge. The 2012 season will be my sixth season at the lodge, and I can not wait!
