| Travel ♦ |
You will need to make travel arrangements to Anchorage and then on to King Salmon. Alaska Airlines and Pennisula Airways service King Salmon from Anchorage. You should plan on arriving in King Salmon before 5PM on Monday. Penn Air (800) 448-4226 has a flight departing Anchorage @ 3:50PM, arriving King Salmon 4:45PM. The lodge floatplanes will transfer you to the lodge between 5PM and 6pm.
If you arrive in King Salmon early, there are several restaurant/bar options within walking distance. Look for the No See Um van outside the airport, deposit bags in the back and relax. Don't worry about getting left behind, we will find you.
If you have not yet purchased a fishing license online, you can get them at the airport gift shop. Departure from the lodge is 8AM the following Monday. Many people book the early flight out of King Salmon (approx. 9:30AM). If you opt for the first flight, keep in mind that weather delays are very possible. Travel time between King Salmon and the lodge is approx. 30 minutes. Unscheduled flights between King Salmon and the lodge are available at an additional charge of $300. |

| Fly Rods ♦ |
As an all around rod a six or
seven weight is best. Many
guests also bring a four or five
weight rod for dry fly fishing and
an eight weight rod for most
salmon. While most people bring
their own rods and reels No See
Um Lodge does loan equipment
at no charge. There is a $75.00 charge for broken loaner rods. |
|
| Lines ♦ |
Floating line is used for most
Rainbow Trout fishing with dry
flys, nymps, egg patterns, fry
and streamers. A floating line is
often used for salmon as well. A
mid-weight sink tip works well for
early season trout. |
|
| Reels ♦ |
Any reel will work but one with
a good drag seems best for the
strong native fish that you will be
catching. |
|
| Clothing and Waders ♦ |
Chest high waders are a must.
Either neoprene or gortex work
well. You will need felt soled
wading shoes but absolutely no metal cleats or spikes as they
damage the aircraft and boats.
Typical fishing clothing consists
of poly underwear, pile jacket,
hooded sweatshirt and a good
fishing rain jacket. Fingerless
gloves are nice for cold mornings.
Dress at the lodge is always
informal. |

| Flies ♦ |

of your flies. You may also want
